Kim and Darren were flying into Toronto from Calgary for a networking event and wanted to use the opportunity to get some brand photos done! Their podcast was thriving and they wanted photos that better represented their brand.
After doing a Brand Discovery Call with Kim, I learned that not only did her and her husband have a podcast but they had built and sold 3 family businesses while raising 4 kids! Wow!
They started their podcast, Mr. and Mrs. CEO, as a way to educate and inspire others in their position.
Their Brand Goals
They wanted brand photos for the promotion of their podcast and it was important they didn’t look too cookie-cutter. Kim was excited to see that our style was a bit more edgy than other brand photographers because she wanted something that felt unique to them.
I got a sense that this couple was really playful and down to earth (which they later proved!). Kim made a point to mention that she didn’t want anything to feel to posed or stuffy.
When getting to know their brand, it was 3 words that stuck out: supportive, grounded…and a little bougie.
The Brand Photoshoot
Receiving their brand colours from their assistant, I incorporated this gorgeous red into their mood board along with elements and props that would resonate with their target audience.
The studio, Studio Bokeh, I was able to find in Aurora, Ontario was PERFECT. It was a bit edgy, a bit bougie and really represented Darren and Kim’s playful relationship. And how perfect that it also came with a red backdrop?
We started at the studio and then found an outdoor space near the networking event they were attending later. I made sure there were pops of red everywhere we went so that all the images would tie in together.
I don’t think I’ve ever met a couple that laughs as much as these two! They were having a blast with each other the whole time which made it really easy to capture their energy and moments that were authentic.
The Results
We were able to deliver photos that matched the mood board flawlessly! The photos on the red backdrop also contained a lot of blank space so they could put text over them and use them in different marketing materials.
During the editing, I adjusted all the red tones to match their brand colour. I also added some increased texture in all the photos to give them a more gritty and edgy feel.
Their new brand photos look incredible on their website. The mix of black and white photos with that powerful red accent comes across as powerful, bold, and positions them as experts in their field.
Kim and Darren opted for The Next Level Brand Package so they could be fairly hands-off during the planning process. They were dealing with a book launch, planning a trip from Calgary to Toronto AND running their multiple businesses.
