For someone who grew up in the 90s, this shoot was an absolute dream. My client Steph is an intuitive eating coach, and she had brand photos done before, but they never felt as creative as she wanted.
And when someone mentions they want to be more creative with their personal brand photos, every cell in my body screams YES. After chatting back and forth for a while, we had decided to do an editorial personal brand photoshoot inspired by the ’90s-vogue era.
This era of editorial photography was minimal in terms of backdrops and colours – it was the poses and wardrobe commanded attention. Think elongated lines, exaggerated body language, voluminous blowouts and structured clothing.
These visuals cues are what I planned Steph’s shoot around, but I also wanted to tell a story about her brand specifically. She helps women with mindful eating and feeling at home in their ‘now’ bodies so I recommended she bring in some food props. I wanted to pair the food props with confident posing to show women how they can be empowered to make their own choices around food, and feel good doing it.

To ensure we nailed the wardrobe, I sent Steph links of exactly what clothing to grab. I also put together a mood board for each scene so we could tell a clear story with props and styling. From styling to final edits that mimicked the look of film, every detail was designed to capture that ’90s editorial vibe.

I asked a videographer to join us on set to grab behind the scenes content and b-roll Steph could use in her marketing and promotions. You can watch the full behind-the-scenes below!
At the end of the shoot, Steph shared with me that the shoot flew by and how refreshing it was to get photos that finally felt like her. Not the watered-down, cookie-cutter version of her business, but the expansive and bolder version. A version almost no one in her industry is doing.
Steph went on to use these editorial personal brand photos in her email newsletter and social media content. Every time I see them, they cut through the clutter of what’s already been done in her industry and allow her to truly stand-out.

If you’re a female entrepreneur like Steph and want to go bolder with your photos, I am here for it. I specialize in editorial personal brand photography so that your photos feel magazine-worthy instead of a copy-paste version of what’s already out there.
Each of my brand photography packages can be paired with creative direction. This means that I become your personal creative director and craft a totally custom shoot from the ground up. Think mood board creation, location scouting, wardrobe and prop styling, a shot list, and a pre-shoot call to make sure you are 100% confident and in your element before shoot day.
Steph opted for the Next Level Brand Photography Package which is designed for the entrepreneur ready for their next level in business. Whether it’s starting a new business, a rebrand, or a launching your next offer.
This session includes more time, outfits, locations and images than most brand shoots so you’ll walk away with a huge archive of photos that embody what your next level looks like.
