Personal Branding Photography Pricing in Toronto: What Business Owners Should Know

Most people have invested in wedding or family photography, but when it comes to personal branding photography, it can feel a bit like uncharted territory. You know that photos will be incredibly valuable for growing your business but you also have questions about what a personal branding shoot actually includes.

You’re probably wondering: how long should my personal brand shoot be? how many photos do I really need? And what kind of investment I can expect to make? I will answer all these questions for you in this blog.

A quick introduction before we get into it: I am a personal branding photographer in Toronto who specializes in creating elevated, editorial-style photos for female entrepreneurs.

My style is influenced by magazine spreads, big brand campaigns, and art. I want to encourage business owners to think bigger and understand that they can have any look they want. They don’t have to replicate what they have seen every other business owner doing, and they don’t have to play it safe.

Let’s get into personal branding photography pricing!

How Much Does Personal Branding Photography Typically Cost?

The range I see in Toronto for personal branding photography is $500-$3000.

On the lower end, you can expect to pay $500 for a brand mini session or shorter sessions. These sessions are usually 30 minutes to an hour long and you can expect to walk away with 5-10 images.

On the higher end, personal branding photography pricing in the $2000-$3000 range will come with a lot more perks.

Firstly, it would include a longer session time (2 hours-4 hours), which means more outfit changes, and a larger bank of photos. Most of these more expensive packages will include extra benefits, such as: hair and makeup, a pre-shoot consultation (helping with wardrobe, props, etc.), and your studio rental may be covered as well.

The middle range is $800-$1500 and these are the packages I find to be the most popular in my business. Most business owners opt for packages in this range because they get enough time not to feel rushed and enough images to post frequently on social media.

My most popular personal branding package, The Next Level Brand, is in this middle range. It includes a 3-hour session, time for 2 locations and 6 outfits, location scouting, brand reflection questionnaire, creative strategy call (to confirm wardrobe + vision before the shoot), a brand photoshoot check list and 50 final photos for $1189.00 + tax.

What Goes Into Personal Branding Photography Pricing?

There are a few different things that go into determining personal branding photography pricing. The first is experience. A photographer who specializes in personal branding photography and has a strong portfolio will absolutely charge more than the family photographer who occasionally takes headshots for small business owners.

A photographer who specializes in personal branding will understand the importance of getting to know you and your business. They understand that you need more than just a couple headshots to market your business, and they will take the time to study your brand, your ideal clients or customers, and create photos that actually move the needle in your business.

With that being said, you can expect to pay more if your personal brand photographer does any pre-production work, such as: brand strategy, planning calls, wardrobe consultations, building a shot list, etc.

The number of images you receive will also determine the price. It seems like editing would be the easy part but it’s actually the most time-consuming and this is where skills can really vary. The more images your package includes, the more time will be needed to edit those images, which affects price.

What Makes Editorial Personal Branding Photography Pricing Different?

The style of personal brand photography that I do – editorial personal brand photography – is more of an investment because of the prep work that goes into it.

I have a couple packages that are simple and can be a nice option to refresh your brand photos but my most popular packages are the ones that go deeper.

Editorial personal branding photography is more premium because it requires more creative direction. It tells a story and feels more stylized than a regular personal brand photoshoot. It requires more planning to give it that elevated, editorial feel. Think: location scouting, mood boards, outfit and prop planning, etc. to give you that high quality look that could be featured in a magazine.

Editorial personal branding photography pricing is different because every shoot is designed from scratch. I don’t use one location or one filter that gives all my photos the same look. Everything is custom to match your brand.

How Do I Know Which Package is Right for Me?

There are 2 questions I ask my clients when recommending a package for them:

1. What do you plan on using the photos for? (social media, website, press, or maybe it’s all the things!)

2. Are you sticking with the same branding or do you want to freshen things up a bit?

If your answers to these questions are that you just need a few photos to update your website and you are 100% confident in your current branding, then a smaller package will be perfect for you. I would recommend my Brand Refresh or Brand Momentum Package.

If you are very active on social media and have tons of projects in the works then I would recommend a more premium package that include lots of outfits and locations so you can get lots of variety and walk away with a large image bank. The Next Level Brand Package would be a perfect fit for you.

If you’re confident with your branding, then this package alone with be enough – but let’s say you are launching a new group program and your ideal client is different from who you target before, then I would recommend adding on Creative Direction. This add-on will ensure we do the deeper work required to figure out what direction and aesthetic is going to appeal to your new audience.

To summarize it: the bigger personal branding photography packages will come with more variety, more images, and brand strategy while the smaller packages are best for smaller projects and come with enough images for a simple refresh.

What Can I Use My Personal Branding Photos For?

My clients, who are primarily ambitious female entrepreneurs, use their photos for everything!

They use their personal branding photos for:

  • posting to social media and creating reel covers
  • creating lead magnets
  • marketing their signature offers
  • promoting podcast episodes
  • creating sale funnels and landing pages
  • for press features
  • creating email newsletters
  • updating their websites

I’ve even seen new versions of photos pop-up that were taken years ago. My clients get creative with their photos – working with graphic designers or creating things on their own in Canva – to give the photos new life.

I’ve seen all the places my clients use their photos so I go into every brand shoot aiming for variety. You’ll get wide shots, detail shots, close-ups, portraits, etc. so you can use your photos everywhere and for many different purposes.

Real Client ROIs

My amazing client, Jenn, was right in the middle of a major pivot in her business when we worked together. Jenn had spent years in corporate leadership before hitting full burnout, leaving, and building a yoga community online.

But over time, she realized the “yogi” audience wasn’t actually her ideal client anymore. She wanted to meet people exactly where she once was: ambitious but on the edge of burnout, and support them as a wellness coach.

So we rebuilt her brand from the ground up:

  • We changed her colours
  • We shifted the themes she showed in her photos (less yoga, more corporate settings)
  • And we repositioned her as the authority and coach that her clients could trust

Jenn chose my most popular package, the Next Level Brand Package and added Creative Direction, which meant I mapped out everything:

  • A deep dive into her pivot and ideal client
  • Location scouting
  • Wardrobe guidance
  • A mood board
  • A shot list designed to support her new brand direction
  • 2-hour shoot, multiple outfits, tons of variety
  • 60 edited photos

Since then she’s:

  • Increased the amount of leads she gets on LinkedIn (by 200%!)
  • Built a brand that feels aligned and actually speaks to her ideal clients
  • Received so many compliments on how these photos finally represent her

Personal branding photography pricing may seem like it ranges a lot but that’s just because everyone is at different stages in their business and needs different things. As a personal brand photographer, I want to make sure I’m never selling someone something they don’t need and it’s why I have a wide range of packages.

Use the information in this blog to decide what package would be best for you and reach out to a few photographers! It’s always a good sign when a photographer wants to ask you a few questions before recommending something – it means they care about your needs.
